This work addresses the need, obvious for nearly two decades, for an exhaustive monograph, which updates all our knowledge about the artist and reviews his work in the format of a catalogue.

The publication in 3 volumes will be the definitive monograph, with a catalogue raisonné of all his production. The study of El Greco’s life and work will not be overly detailed rather it will be focused on the analysis of his stylistic evolution, his artistic influences, and the principle ingredients of his art. It will be a stylistic study rather than a biography. Obviously, it will deal with the painter’s artistic ideology, his devotion to architecture and sculpture, and the activity of his workshop, but the main purpose will be to offer a global view of the artist, his work, his evolution, and his significance.
